Most people think letting agents spend their days simply opening doors and handing over keys.

But after spending the day with Debra Lavender, Senior Property Consultant at Address Properties, it’s safe to say the role involves a lot more than that.

From lettings and property viewings to sales enquiries, tenant communication, landlord updates, and managing busy schedules across Liverpool, no two days ever look the same and many of our landlords already know just how much Debra does behind the scenes.

“Everyone thinks we just open doors all day…”

One of the first questions we asked Debra was whether the stereotype about letting agents is actually true.

Safe to say… not quite.

Between arranging viewings, speaking with tenants, handling property enquiries, supporting landlords, coordinating maintenance, and managing sales properties, the day moves quickly.

And according to Debra, the role definitely runs on coffee too.

“A lot of coffee is involved.”

More Than Just Lettings

While many people know Debra through our lettings department, she also looks after sales properties across Liverpool, helping vendors market and manage their homes while guiding buyers through the process.

That balance between lettings and sales means she sees the Liverpool property market from every angle from rental demand and tenant expectations to buyer interest and property presentation.

One thing that became clear throughout filming was just how people-focused the role really is.

And according to Debra, first impressions matter more than most people realise.

“People decide how they feel about a property almost straight away.”

That’s why presentation plays such a huge role in both lettings and sales.

The Best Part of the Job

When we asked Debra what the best part of the role is, the answer came back to people.

Helping someone find the right home. Supporting landlords through the process. Seeing a property successfully let or sold after weeks of preparation.

That’s the part of the job that matters most.
